What This Page Covers
Protect the Working Features
Identify the surfaces most sensitive to contact, corrosion, contamination or movement during delivery. A cutting edge, polished forming surface or precision fit may need protection different from the rest of the part. Include any restriction on protective materials or residue in the packing requirements.
Keep Parts Identifiable
Specify the required separation by part number, revision and batch where applicable. Agree labels for individual packs, trays or cartons so the delivered items can be reconciled with the packing information. Identification should not damage the functional surface or obscure required inspection.
Agree the Document Set
Confirm the documents needed with the shipment, such as packing information and the inspection or material records agreed for the order. Specify any reference that must appear on those documents. Do not assume that every possible report is included with every shipment.
Separate the Delivery Milestones
Distinguish production completion, inspection release, dispatch and arrival. Provide the destination and required timing for review. Transport arrangements, order changes and approval hold points can affect the schedule, so use the confirmed quotation and order terms as the basis.
Make Receipt Checks Practical
Check the identification, quantity and visible packing condition against the delivery information. Report a discrepancy with the part or shipment reference and relevant evidence. Preserve the affected packaging or components as appropriate while the issue is reviewed through the agreed channel.
01Is standard packing suitable for every component?
No. Identify sensitive surfaces, sharp working edges, corrosion concerns and any special protection requirements for your parts.
02Can different revisions be packed together?
Specify the required separation and identification. Mixed items must remain distinguishable at receipt.
03Can I request individual labels?
Provide the label content, location and separation requirements before ordering. Marking or adhesive on sensitive surfaces needs review.
04Will inspection reports travel with the shipment?
Only the documents agreed for the order should be assumed included. Specify the required set and delivery method in advance.
05Is the quoted lead time the arrival date?
Clarify whether the quotation refers to completion, release, dispatch or arrival. These are separate milestones.
06Can I nominate transport arrangements?
Describe the proposed arrangement and destination during quotation so responsibilities and scope can be agreed.
07Are duties or import charges automatically included?
Do not assume that. The issued quotation and agreed commercial terms determine the included delivery scope.
08How should replacement tooling be protected?
Identify cutting edges, forming surfaces, fits and any preservation restrictions. The protection method must suit the actual component.
09What should I do if a carton is damaged?
Record the identification and visible condition and report the issue through the agreed channel. Keep relevant evidence available for the review.
10What information is needed for a delivery review?
Provide destination, required timing, packing and identification instructions, document requirements and any nominated transport arrangement.
Discuss Your Requirements
Share your part type, current drawing revision and the question you need to resolve. Include the quantity and delivery destination when a quotation is required.
